Apollo, one of the 12 Gods of Olympus, appears as a beautiful half-length nude figure with shoulder-length golden hair and a halo (referring to his identification as the sun-god). He carries a bow and a quiver of arrows, with which he killed the serpent Python. As leader of the nine Muses, he plays his silver-coloured lyre.
