Alexander Ramsay became editor of the ‘Banffshire Journal’ in 1847 and held this post until his death in 1909. He had strong interests in historical matters, being involved in the reinvigoration of the Banff Institution in 1852, and writing travel guides to the new sections of railway lines in Banffshire as they opened up.
