A semi-representative study of buildings in black and grey against a red and orange sky, influenced by Graham Sutherland. Hunter was born in Liverpool in 1920 and joined the Territorial Army in 1938, seeing action in the Second World War. He trained at Liverpool College of Art (1946–1950). In 1952 he moved to Wales and was Head of Art at Trinity College for over 30 years. He was a founding member of the 56 group.
