John Hailstone, brother of Samuel Hailstone, was an English geologist who went to Cambridge. He was made Woodwardian Professor in 1788, an office which he held for 30 years. He was elected to the Linnean Society in 1800, and to the Royal Society in 1801, and was one of the original members of the Geological Society.
