John Bratby was most recognised for his scenes of domestic life painted during the 1950s. It was during this time, Bratby was a member of 'The Kitchen Sink School' - the name given to a group of four painters who exhibited together in the mid-1950s. This painting of ‘Elm Park Gardens’ was taken from the view out of the window of his home.
