In early January 1941, the British aircraft carrier HMS 'Illustrious' sailed towards Malta to help give air cover to a relief convoy. She was severely damaged by German aircraft 75 miles east of Malta, and had to head to the island for emergency repairs. The scene of the attack is viewed from the cockpit of one of 'Illustrious' own Fairey Swordfish aircraft.
