This is part of a group of five portraits of the Davis family, all painted by Thomas Beach. This shows Hannah Davis, the wife of a successful, respectable Bath artist and businessman, Thomas Beach. The Davis family had prospered in fashionable Georgian Bath. Mr Davis began as a sign painter, but became an artist who made a good living painting portraits of spa visitors. Sadly, Hannah Davis died just months after this was painted.
