A larger-then-life-sized figure of Stan Laurel, born Arthur Stanley Jefferson in Lancashire, who lived in the original 8 Dockway Square from 1897 to 1901. On the front of the pedestal is a small relief showing the heads of both Laurel and Hardy. Stan Laurel teamed up with Oliver Hardy in 1926 with the first official Laurel and Hardy film 'Putting Pants on Philip' shot in 1927. The pair rose to fame in the 1930s with their bumbling comedy characterisations.
