Painter, printmaker, draughtsman, teacher and writer, notable for her skilful use of watercolour and depiction of light. She studied at Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art, Oxford, 1972–5. In 1976 moved to Greece and set up an etching workshop in affiliation with the Aegean School of Fine Art, returning to England two years later. She established the Moorland House Workshop in Somerset in 1980. In 1988 published her book Light: How to see it, How to paint it. Willis travelled extensively, as shown in her 1991 exhibition with Chris Beetles Ltd, which included pictures of South India, one of 10 Beetles shows, 1986–96. Willis was an invited artist, 1997 and 2000, at The Discerning Eye Exhibition, Mall Galleries. In 1992 Willis gained first prize for her picture Her Majesty’s Pleasure in the BP Portrait Award at the National Portrait Gallery.
