Painter and draughtsman whose full name was George Owen Wynne Apperley and who was born in Ventnor, Isle of Wight. Although mainly self-taught, he did study with the Herkomer School at Bushey. Lived for much of his life in Spain, where he worked and exhibited, and in Morocco, being honoured by the Spanish government. Exhibited extensively at Leicester and Walker’s Galleries, RI and RSA. Apperley was adept in line and wash at catching the sun-filled landscapes of the Mediterranean area. His work is in the Victoria & Albert Museum.
