Painter, sculptor in steel and teacher, born in Chadderton, Lancashire. He studied at Edinburgh College of Art, 1948–51, teachers including William Gillies and Robert Henderson Blyth, then at Royal Academy Schools, 1953–6, with Henry Rushbury and Peter Greenham. Lecturer at Gray’s School of Art, Aberdeen, 1960–87. Was a member of SSA and Aberdeen Artists’ Society, also showing at RA and RSA. Scottish Arts Council, Keston Training College and galleries in Brighton and Dunfermline hold his work. Lived in Banchory, Kincardineshire.
