Painter and draughtsman of portraits, often quirky and witty, with a musical connection, son of the composer Sir Harrison Birtwistle. Studied at Chelsea College of Art. Mixed exhibitions included RA Summer Exhibition, 1984; Salon d’Automne de Notre Dame de Gravenchou Competition, 1st Prize, 1988; and Salon des Indépendants, Paris, 1990. Showed solo frequently in Britain and France, notably at Piano Nobile Fine Paintings, Richmond and Holland Park, from 1986. National Portrait Gallery and Royal Academy of Music hold examples.
