Painter in oil and teacher, born in Stonehaven, Kincardineshire. He studied at Gray’s School of Art, Aberdeen, 1958–62, and Patrick Allan-Fraser School of Art, Hospitalfield, Arbroath, 1961, teachers including Robert Henderson Blyth and David Michie. He moved to Glasgow in 1962 and became a part-time lecturer at the School of Art, 1967–88, later in further education. Boyd’s main works were portraits, still life and composition. He was a member of RP and Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts, also showing at RA, RSA, Fine Art Society and Cormund Gallery in Glasgow, Open Eye Gallery and Bourne Fine Art in Edinburgh and Portland Gallery. Lillie Art Gallery, Milngavie; Paisley Museum & Art Gallery; and People’s Palace in Glasgow hold his work.
