Mixed-media artist, born in Elstow, Bedfordshire, and teacher. He studied at Coventry College of Art under Michael Sandle, then Royal College of Art with Harry Weinberger. He was a part-time lecturer in painting at Mid-Warwickshire College of Art, 1974–92, then became a full-time artist, being represented by the Goldmark Gallery, Uppingham. Burman was a prizewinner in Mercia Art at Herbert Museum and Art Gallery, Coventry, which holds his work, 1985, and he gained first prize in the 1991 Hunting/Observer Awards. His mixed exhibition appearances began with Through Drawing at ICA, 1966; was also in Modern Drawings at Angela Flowers Gallery and in British Figurative Art in Copenhagen, both 1972; also Mayor Gallery, 1988. Had a solo show at Coventry College of Art, 1969, later ones including Nicholas Treadwell Gallery, 1982, and Goldmark Gallery, three between 1992 and 1999.
