Architect, painter and writer who, after attending St Andrews University, studied at the Architectural Association. Keen European traveller, whose books included The Substance of Architecture and Plain Impressions. Was a member of Chelsea Arts Club. Exhibited RA and RI and lived in London. Manchester City Art Gallery holds his work.
