Painter and teacher, born in Yorkshire. After studying at Hull College of Art, 1961–5, gained a Fulbright Scholarship to study at Indiana University, in America. He lectured in colleges in Britain, America and Canada and from 1978–83 lived and worked in Canada, where he was co-ordinator of painting and drawing at Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. He returned to Britain in 1983, becoming head of painting at Hull College of Further Education. Clark’s paintings were seen in many group shows, and he had solo shows at Ian Birksted Gallery; 49th Parallel Gallery, New York; and Wynick/Tuck Gallery, Toronto; and shared a show with David Sweet at Castlefield Gallery, Manchester. Arts Council of Northern Ireland and several important foreign collections hold his work.
