Painter and teacher, born in Toronto, Canada. He studied at Richmond-upon-Thames Polytechnic, 1978–9; St Martin’s School of Art, 1979–80; Coleg Elidyr, Camphill, in south Wales, 1980–1; then graduated with first-class degree from Camberwell School of Art, 1983–6; gaining his master’s at Goldsmiths’ College School of Art, 1988–90. He was a part-time tutor at Central St Martins School from 1994, becoming co-ordinator and drawing course tutor from 1995. Among mixed exhibitions were South London Art Gallery, Thames & Hudson Prize Show, 1986; RA Summer Exhibition and John Moores Liverpool Exhibition, from 1987; The Discerning Eye, Mall Galleries and tour, 1991, where Constable was a first prize winner; Eagle Gallery, 1993; and Royal Over-Seas League Open, 1995.
