Painter, born in London, son of Sir Herbert Frederick Cook, Bart. Sir Francis studied art under Harold Speed, John Arnesby Brown and S J Lamorna Birch over a decade from 1926. He then exhibited widely, including RA, RBA, LG and Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, one of several provincial collection holding his work, which is sometimes of an allegorical-cum-religious nature. Sometimes signed work with initials F M C plus date. Had a special interest in the techniques of the Old Masters and connections with St Ives and Jersey artists’ colonies and lived in St Aubin, Jersey.
