Painter, born in Edinburgh, who graduated from Goldsmiths’ College in 1996. His work appeared in Die Yuppie Scum, at Karsten Schubert, 1996; in 1997 in Artists and their Spread, 53 Exmouth Market, and in the Saatchi Collection-related show Sensation, at the RA; in 1998–9 in Die Young Stay Pretty, at ICA. In Sensation he was described as making “obsessional paintings about the medium of painting itself … The work is at once fastidious and awkward, painted in a faux-naïf style”. In 1997, Davies was commissioned by Habitat to create a work entitled Small Circle Painting. Solo shows at The Approach, 1998, and Gagosian Gallery, 2001. Davies won first prize in the 2002 John Moores Liverpool Exhibition with Super Star Fucker – Andy Warhol Text Painting.
