Painter, draughtsman and teacher, born in Liverpool where he studied at the College of Art. Also studied at Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts, teachers including Richard Eurich and Martin Bloch. Taught art in the north of England for 20 years. He went on to direct the Mounts Bay Art Centre in Newlyn, Cornwall, where he settled, in 1976, in the 1990s being chairman of Newlyn Society of Artists. While running the residential art school Evans continued to paint, showing widely in the west of England and the east coast of America. The closure of the school enabled Evans to tackle a bold, three-year project: panoramic views of London, some from elevated vantage points, an idea nurtured by a visit to his son’s high-rise office in the capital.
