Painter and draughtsman, born in Swansea, south Wales, where he studied at the Institute of Higher Education, 1986–7, then at Manchester Polytechnic, 1987–90, and Royal Academy Schools, 1990–3. Evans drew on images from books, magazines and catalogues for his tidy suburban interiors, with sometimes an autobiographical or bizarre element. Exhibitions included Into the Nineties, Mall Galleries, 1993; Whitechapel Open and Mostyn Open, Llandudno, both 1994; and John Moores Liverpool Exhibition, 1995–6. Had solo exhibitions at Gallery 1010, University of Tennessee, America, 1994, and Anthony Wilkinson Gallery, 2000. Lived in London.
