Painter of portraits and figures, designer and writer, born in Streatham Common, Surrey and educated at Dulwich College. After studying at Oriel College, Oxford, George attended the Westminster School of Art and Académie Julian, in Paris. Did poster work for Shell. George showed 11 pictures, overwhelmingly religious subjects, at the RA Summer Exhibition between 1922–33 while living in Chelsea. He also exhibited at NEAC, London Salon, Goupil Gallery, RP and elsewhere. His book The Life and Death of Benjamin Robert Haydon, 1786–1846 was first published in 1948, a second edition in 1967 including additions by Dorothy George.
