Painter in oil, born in Antwerp. Studied at Lancaster School of Art, 1907–14, and at the Royal College of Art, 1917–22, under Robert Anning Bell and Gerald Moira. Exhibited RA, NEAC, Redfern Gallery and elsewhere, the City of Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery holding his work. Gerrard also showed in North America, Italy and India, where he taught for a time and was an official art adviser in Bombay. He was an expert on Indian art and iconography. Work appeared in The Studio and Colour magazines. Lived at Denham, Buckinghamshire.
