Painter, employing unconventional media such as car spray and Hammerite; teacher, born in Chatham, Kent. His younger brother was the artist Billy Childish. He studied at Slade School of Fine Art, 1975–9, and Royal College of Art, 1980–2. Went on to teach at Oxford Polytechnic, 1988–91, and was also visiting lecturer at Ruskin School of Drawing. Group show appearances included Tolly Cobbold, 1985; Smiths Galleries, 1985–8; and Raab Gallery, 1988. In 1991–2 he was a prizewinner at John Moores Exhibition, Liverpool, with a dynamic, large canvas: The Intervention of the Doner Kebab. He had solo shows at Fischer Fine Art in 1985; at Oxford Polytechnic and Ruskin School 1990; as well as abroad. Lived in Oxford.
