Artist in watercolour and oil, born in Glasgow, who studied at St Martin’s School of Art and Glasgow School of Art, evening classes. Macdonald was influenced by the Scottish Colourists and Fauve painters. She was known for her landscapes and pictures of fishing boats around the Crinan area of Argyll, where with her husband she ran an hotel, later developing a special interest in interiors and still life. She was a professional member of the SSWA and of Scottish Arts Club, also showing with Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts and RSW. Had a solo show at Gallery Paton, Edinburgh, 1975, later ones including Sue Rankin Gallery, 1989, and Cyril Gerber Fine Art in Glasgow, 2001 and 2003, and Portland Gallery, 2002 and 2003. Robert Fleming Holdings and other corporate collections hold examples.
