Painter, printmaker, writer and poet, and teacher, born in Penrhiwceiber, Glamorgan, south Wales. For some years he was a miner, then attended Fircroft College in Birmingham, 1949–51, and Bognor College of Education, 1951–3, under Charles Woolaston. Morgan settled in Denmead, Hampshire, but his subject continued to be “the mining landscape of South Wales”. He was a schoolmaster for 20 years, but retired early to paint and write. His mixed-show appearances included Cumberland House, Portsmouth, from 1958; Southampton Art Gallery, 1960; and WAC, 1960, Industrial Wales. Had a solo show at Mermaid Theatre, 1965, with many more following in London, Wales, Portsmouth and elsewhere. Morgan first published poems and short stories in the early 1960s, to which he frequently added.
