Painter, designer, teacher and printmaker, born in Edinburgh, son of the artist Cavendish Morton with whom he studied and twin brother of the artist Concord Morton with whom he produced joint work. Cavendish Morton was a member of RI, ROI, SGA and NS whose subjects included notable aeroplanes and ships. In World War II worked in the aircraft industry, 1939–45. Married the musician Rosemary Britten, 1946 and moved to Suffolk, 1947–77. While there, taught at Old Hall School, Heathersett, 1957–67, was art therapist to Hartismere Hospital in Eye, where he lived and of which he was twice mayor, and in the 1960s made a series of art for children programmes for Anglia Television. He also illustrated books by Dorothy Hammond Innes and designed the bodies of various cars, several running at Le Mans.
