Painter who graduated from the Slade School of Fine Art, 1993, gaining a postgraduate diploma from the Royal Academy Schools in 1996. In 1993, Murdoch gained 1st Prize, Sir William Coldstream (Slade competition) and Landscape Award, David Murray Studentship (Royal Academy); in 1994 the British Institution Fund Award; and in 1996 an Aneas Travel Award to Italy. Exhibitions included RA Summer Exhibition, from 1994; a two-man show at Cadogan Contemporary, 1995; and Serpentine Gallery, 1996. Had a solo exhibition at Portland Gallery, 1997, The Blue Gallery, 2000. Murdoch was a pupil at Bedales School, 1984–9, and was included in the 1999 exhibition Bedales Art & Design, organised by William Jackson Gallery at Art99, Business Design Centre. The Slade and a number of corporate collections hold examples.
