Painter and draughtsman, born in London, who studied at St Martin’s School of Art and Royal College of Art. He showed at RA, RSA, NEAC, LG and Redfern Gallery and after settling in Hull in the 1950s was a founder-member of the Avenues Group. Solo shows included Trafford Gallery and Wildenstein and in 1983–9 Ferens Art Gallery, Hull, gave him a two-part retrospective, with another in 2001. It and public galleries in Beverley, Nottingham, Sheffield and Wakefield hold examples.
