Sculptor and ceramist, born in Aldershot, Hampshire. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in geology at Exeter University, 1980–3, then gained his master’s degree in sculpture/ceramics from the Royal College of Art, 1990–3. Pigott was included in Young British Artists V, at Saatchi Gallery, 1995, his exhibits being a series of objects associated with washing and personal hygiene with a wry twist: a lavatory sealed tight, frustrating any attempt to lift the seat; and bars of soap, labelled for parts of the body. In 1997 Pigott appeared in the BBC2 Television series Date with an Artist, in which he created a sculpture based on a saxophone.
