Painter, born in Melbourne, Australia, who moved to London in 1962, settling in Wales in 1984. Studied at Loughborough College of Art, foundation course, 1972–3, then St Martin’s School of Art, 1973–6. Group shows included Whitechapel Open and RA Summer Exhibition from 1982; Wales Open, Aberystwyth, 1989, first prize; Mostyn Open, first prize, 1991; Royal National Eisteddfod, Aberystwyth, gold medal in fine art, 1992; Hunting/Observer first prizewinner, Mall Galleries and tour, 1993; Second Prize, BP National Portrait Award, and BBC Wales Visual Artist of the Year Award, both 1994. In 2003 she won the Jerwood Painting Prize. Had solo exhibition with Martin Tinney Gallery, Cardiff, 1993, another of self-portraits, strongly painted in whites and reds, at Oriel Mostyn, Llandudno, 1997, showing at Stephen Lacey Gallery, 2000.
