Artist and teacher, born in Tomintoul, Banffshire. He studied at Edinburgh College of Art under William Gillies, Hubert Wellington and Robert Westwater, then at Dartington Hall, teachers including the sculptor Willi Soukop. Shortly after World War II he was a scenic artist with Two Cities Films, then taught art for many years at Acklam College, Middlesbrough, until 1980. Showed with RSA, SSA, LG and abroad. Lived in Linthorpe, Middlesbrough, for many years.
