Born and based in London, Roith was a scene painter at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden while studying part-time under Westminster School of Art teachers Walter Sickert and Bernard Meninsky. When he went into business he continued to paint, showing variously, having a solo exhibition organised in 1979 by Ben Uri Art Society, which holds a collection of his oils and watercolours.
