Artist, illustrator, designer and teacher, who studied fine art at Cardiff and Brighton Colleges of Art. He was an illustrator and graphic designer for several years; held senior posts at Amersham School of Art and Salisbury College of Art; then in 1989 left Salisbury College, where he was head of fine art and graphics, to travel and paint. Taylor worked in various media, taking his subjects from observation, memory and imagination. Had many solo exhibitions, also showing at RBA, ROI, RSMA, RI, NEAC and RWS. Taylor was a finalist in the Singer & Friedlander/Sunday Times, Hunting, Spink and Laing painting competitions, being chosen for the 1996 and 1997 Laing calendars. His 2002 solo exhibition at Enid Lawson Gallery, following travels in Ecuador, was typical of Taylor: stylised, charming and quirky landscapes.
