Figure and still life painter in oil, born in Worthing, Sussex. He studied at Goldsmiths’ College School of Art, 1970–3, teachers including Stephen McKenna and Basil Beattie, then painted full-time. Taylor showed in RA Summer Exhibitions, RWA, Beaux Arts in Bath, Florence Art Gallery and elsewhere. Taylor was winner, National Portrait Gallery John Player Award, 1983; winner, Millfield Open, 1989; and gained third prize in the Hunting Group Art Prizes, 1988. Solo shows included Morley Gallery and Quay Arts Centre in Isle of Wight, both 1983; Worthing Museum & Art Gallery, 1984; and Beaux Arts, London, 1993. National Portrait Gallery and Millfield School hold his work. Lived at Child Okeford, Dorset.
