Painter, born in London, who was privately educated, then attended Sidcup School of Art, under Barry Craig. From 1936–8 she was at Slade School of Fine Art, but then left for Royal Academy Schools, 1938–9, studying with Thomas Monnington and Ernest Jackson. Was a member of NEAC, RWA, and RBA, painting landscapes and still lifes in the mainstrean English tradition, subtle and understated. She was a regular exhibitor at RA and RSA and in 1981 was Hunting Group Award winner for oil painting of the year. Solo shows included Leicester Galleries; Minories, Colchester; Octagon Gallery, Belfast; Sally Hunter Fine Art; and Aitken Dott and Scottish Gallery, Edinburgh, having a major retrospective in 1982. Painted works in the collections of Chantrey Bequest, Arts Council, Ministry of Works and a number of provincial galleries, including Hull, Wakefield, Paisley and Carlisle.
