Artist, potter and teacher, born in Ripley, Surrey. He became superintendent of art instruction for Stoke-on-Trent, then principal of Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts, after studying at Brighton School of Art and Royal College of Art, where he was a Royal Exhibitioner, gold medallist and travelling scholar. He was one of the first exhibitors of pottery figures at RA, and also showed at Paris Salon and in the provinces. His work is held in public collections in Stoke-on-Trent and Brighton, where he lived for some years.
