Painter, mainly in oil, born in Walsall, Staffordshire. He studied at Birmingham College of Art, 1929–34, and declined to take up a scholarship at Royal College of Art in order to continue studies with Harold Holden. Painted still life, landscapes and a few commissioned portraits. A strong draughtsman, he was in his landscapes partly influenced by Cézanne. Held a number of teaching posts and eventually became deputy dean of Wolverhampton Polytechnic. Showed at RBA and ROI of both of which he was a member, RA and at venues in America and Japan. Memorial show of his paintings held at Wolverhampton Art Gallery in 1982. Lived in Upper Ludstone, Staffordshire.
