Painter and illustrator who began painting when she was only four. After South Hampstead High School she attended the London School of Art under Richard Jack, London Polytechnic and Slade School of Fine Art. Moved to Petersfield, Hampshire, after World War I and went into partnership with two other young women selling secondhand books and crafts. She became noted for her illustrations of life in Petersfield and at Langstone, where she had an old mill as a studio. From late 1920s showed with few intervals for over 20 years at RA, also at Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool, NEAC and SWA. In 1985 she bequeathed her studio cottage to Hampshire County Council and in 1991 the Flora Twort Gallery and Restaurant opened. London Library, Southampton Civic Centre and Royal College of Physicians hold her work.
