Painter, notably of portraits, one of twin sisters born in Blackpool but brought up in Manchester. She studied in evenings with Polish painter William Fitz about 1909, after attending a finishing school in Germany. In 1936 she visited Lamorna Birch’s school in Cornwall, meeting Stanley Gardiner. Vasey was elected a member of MAFA in 1934, where she showed extensively, was an associate of RCamA from 1953–6 and was a full member of SWA, 1961–5. She also showed at RP and ROI. In 1938 Vasey’s picture Madeleine was accepted by City Art Gallery in Manchester. From 1957 Vasey wrote for Art Quarterly magazine. In 1973 she had a show at National Library of Wales in Aberystwyth, where she lived, and it held a commemorative exhibition in 1991.
