Artist and teacher with a special interest in portraits of musicians, born and lived in Croydon, Surrey. After Canford School he attended Queen’s College, Oxford; Croydon School of Art, 1945–8, with R A Wilson; London University Institute of Education, 1949; and Slade School of Fine Art under William Coldstream. He taught at Croydon Art School, 1948–53, also adult education courses. Walker was a member of UA, SGA and Armed Forces’ Art Society. Showed with RA, RP, Paris Salon and elsewhere. His solo exhibitions included Alpine Gallery, 1981. Royal College of Music holds Walker’s portrait of the teacher and composer Herbert Howells.
