Sculptor, potter and aircraft maker, he was educated at Norfolk County School and Royal College of Art and was a pupil of the sculptor Édouard Lantéri. Wells was an early protégé of the artists and collectors Charles Ricketts and Charles Haslewood Shannon, whose work they promoted at Fine Art Society and elsewhere. Completed fine busts of both men, but within a few years he fell out of favour. Wells showed at RA, RSA, IS, Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts and elsewhere. Luton Museum & Art Gallery held an exhibition in 1998. In his maturity Wells became interested in aircraft, and was a member of the Royal Aero Club. Lived near Pulborough, Sussex.
