The officer is in full dress uniform with mountains in the background. This painting was commissioned by the Officers of the Indian Army Association and presented to Field Marshal Sir Claude Auchinleck, GCB, GCSI, CIE, DSO, OBE, on his 90th birthday in 1974. Auchinleck had joined the regiment in 1903 and remained an officer in it until his death on 23 March 1981, aged 96.
