A full-length portrait of a young girl standing barefoot on the grass in a forest clearing. She has short blonde hair and rosy cheeks, and wears a short white-sleeved smock over a brown skirt. The child has been gathering flowers, and has collected them in the hem of her smock. There are bluebells, wallflowers, cowslips and cow parsley. Behind her lie the woods with, to the right, a pink tinge in the sky where the sun is rising or setting. In the foreground on the right is a plant with white flowers.
