'Aurora was inspired following a trip to Iceland in October 2017. I spent a week travelling around the Ring Road, photographing the landscape, including the church depicted in this painting. The modernist structure is a landmark of Olafsvik, a small town on the northern side of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Each piece of work is a documentation of my experiences, the creative process allowing me to recall each place and combine them to create new, anonymous landscapes. I work directly onto birch plywood panels, building up detailed layers while retaining the natural texture of the material beneath.' (Emily Moore)
