A putto facing left and holding a garland of fruit in his hands, which contains bunches of grapes and apples. Behind the putto is a pair of scales. The putto is a representation of autumn, the crab is the zodiac symbol for Libra. This roundel forms part of a group of four reliefs depicting the seasons (see NT 128692, 128696, 128704) originally designed for Eleanor Coade to be reproduced in Coade stone, possibly by John Bacon, from around 1770 to 1790. This is a plaster cast after the Coade stone design, cast in the late eighteenth century or early nineteenth century. The Knole roundels all have the addition of a decorative leaf half-border around the top of the roundel.
