The original gates (which formed a western entrance to Victoria Park) have been replaced by a closed stretch of iron railing between the two original plinths. As seen from Park Lane, the left hand plinth supports a bear facing a lion atop the right plinth. Each plinth has on its east and west sides a shallow square niche in red marble. A new narrow entrance path to the Park has been laid to the right side of the gates.
