With an armed guard to escort him, Bishop Hooper stops in Cricklade Street outside the Bishop Blaize inn. The woman on her knees pleads for forgiveness for doubting his Protestant beliefs. Bishop Hooper was burnt at the stake in Gloucester in 1555, a martyr in the reign of Catholic Queen Mary.
