The Hindu god Brahma, the Creator, grows in the lotus emerging from the navel of the sleeping Vishnu, the Preserver. Vishnu lies in the coils of the snake Shesha. While Lakshmi, the goddess of light, beauty, good fortune and wealth (and the consort of Vishnu), expresses her devotion to Vishnu by massaging his feet. The figures are carved in relief in a frieze composition.
