The caterpillar crawls along the wall at the eastern end of the green and the woodlouse rests, curled up, in the flowerbed at the opposite, western end. Both are made from Staffordshire Blue Ibstock bricks of the same colour as the surrounding wall. The Cinnabar moth’s caterpillar, upon which the former work was based, is yellow and black and is often found on ragwort growing on derelict urban sites. However, the yellow glaze which has been applied to alternating segments of the caterpillar appears brown on the dark blue-grey bricks.
